Tall Timbers History
Tall Timbers accommodation has a strong timber influence in keeping with the region in which it sits. In its infancy, Tall Timbers Tasmania began with 12 standard motel units in 1989 with the main hotel complex and has now evolved through two expansions to host 57 standard accommodation rooms along with 10 boutique lakeside apartments. 95% of the materials used in the construction were local Tasmanian Timbers from the Circular Head region. Local Saw-Millers produced the Tasmanian Oak, while Britton Brothers and Grey’s Timbers product milled the Blackwood, Sassafras, Myrtle and the fine timber veneers.
Tall Timbers offers a resort style facility providing outstanding accommodation based within a natural setting providing extensive options for recreation, hospitality and relaxation. The massive columns in the main entrance were purchased and squared locally by chainsaw. The locally sourced stone fireplaces throughout the complex add to that rustic appearance.
The business has gone from strength-to-strength with additional features being progressively added to the accommodation and the property including:
Increasing the number of rooms from 12 to 67 including construction of boutique lakeside apartments.
Adding 2 full size tennis courts and a BBQ area.
Providing business/ conference and wedding facilities including Video Conferencing.
Introducing TAS Keno, Video Gaming Machines, and TOTE.
Expanding the Bistro and Bar area.
Introducing specialty 4WD Adventure Tours.
Introducing a nationally branded Thirsty Camel Bottle shop.
Addition of a Recreational Area that has pool and gym facilities for guests, community groups and sporting clubs.
Upgrading the standard hotel rooms to ensure these stay in line with industry trends and traveler requirements.
Expanding on markets reached through providing free RV parking facilities.
